Distance learners who are committed to a career in professional garden design.
Whilst no previous experience is required, this is an intensive course requiring home study and the completion of project work for regular scheduled feedback.
Career changers are welcome and a lack of previous experience in drawing or with plant knowledge is not a barrier to entry.
Competent computer skills are essential.
Interviews are conducted by Caroline Tatham as part of the selective application process and present a good opportunity for you to discuss your personal aims.
Group sizes and therefore places are limited.
All course content will be delivered in English.
Starting dates of:
Monday 10 January 2022
This course has been created for those who wish to learn the basic skills involved in the creative process of being a professional garden designer. Its structure allows for the flexibility needed to fit around existing commitments.
There are three archive projects to be completed over the academic year, one project per term. The final project will be assessed and graduating students will be awarded our Cotswold Gardening School Online Professional Garden Design Diploma.
Your knowledge and experience will build throughout the course and over the three projects. Each project brief will be packed with information about your exciting garden design challenge, including: drone videos, site surveys, client briefs, detailed site photos and a clear academic brief that sets out your learning objectives and outcomes.
Your first project is based here at The Cotswold Gardening School and invites you to re-imagine the garden here at Gossington Hall, with its historic quintessentially English Country House style. For project 2 we will be experimenting with ideas for a traditional Cotswold Style manor house set in beautiful English countryside. For the third and final project we will be introducing the further challenge of thinking about slopes and changes of level. This is a lovely site with two houses and a woodland area.
